Your PTE Academic test begins with the Read Aloud items in the Speaking section. There are typically 6-7 of these items in the test. This part of the Speaking section significantly contributes to your overall PTE score, ranking as the fourth-highest point contributor. Each Read Aloud passage in a PTE Academic test contains between 50-80 words.

You will have 30 to 40 seconds to prepare before you hear a beep, indicating that the recording has started and you should begin reading the passage out loud. Read Aloud items contribute points to both your reading and speaking skills.
