PTE Highlight Correct Summary

The fourth item on the PTE listening menu is the Highlight Correct Summary questions or HCS in short. This type of question is considered a multiple choice type of question. There is no negative marking for a wrong answer here. Therefore, even if you do not know the correct answer, try your luck by guessing. You will get 2-3 HCS questions in your exam.

How to answer the HCS questions

These questions are like Summarize Written Text questions of the PTE Writing section in the sense that here instead of reading a passage, candidates listen to a lecture on a particular topic. Then, they need to choose a sentence out of the four given options that best summarizes what they have just heard. What PTE candidates need to do is to note down important numbers, dates, names and places. Once the audio is finished, read the choices and based on the pieces of information noted down, choose the answer that best summarizes the lecture.
