A concise introduction to the Repeat Sentence section of the PTE Academic test

Repeat Sentence

Repeat Sentence is the 2nd part of the Speaking module.  Each PTE candidate gets 10-12 of these items in their PTE academic test. This part of the Speaking Section is a top point contributor to your overall PTE score.

In the PTE Academic test, each of the Repeat Sentence items contributes almost 5 points to your overall test score. You will hear a sentence between 5 to 20 words long, and almost three seconds after the sentence is played, you will hear a beep signalling that the recording has started and you should repeat the sentence back.

Remember, do not position the microphone immediately in front of your mouth. Have it closer to your nose or chin.

Most PTE candidates use their short term memory for repeating back what they have just heard, but once the sentence is longer than usual, the candidates start to stutter and forget parts of the sentence and sometimes even the whole sentence. In our online PTE coaching, we will teach you a method that will easily help you repeat all of the words included in a repeat sentence item.
