Vocabulary is 5th item of the six Enabling Skills of the PTE test. The Enabling Skills of the PTE test in the order they appear on the PTE score report are: Grammar, Oral Fluency, Pronunciation, Spelling, Vocabulary and Written Discourse.
Your vocabulary score basically comes from your Essay Writing content words and from Fill in the Blanks of the Listening section.
How to improve your vocabulary score
The best way to increase your vocabulary is to improve your spelling. For your Essay Writing, for example, you can memorize a writing template. This way you only need to memorize a certain number of words and thus improve your vocabulary score. (see this link Essay Writing template)
Another way to increase your vocabulary score is to practice more Fill in the Blanks Listening questions. You can practice these types of question on thePTE.com practice website. The questions here are very close to the real ones candidates get in the real PTE test.
And finally, last but not least, is the Highlight Incorrect Words questions of the listening section. These questions will get you negative marking if chosen by mistake. So, you need to be extra-careful when dealing with these questions.
